Adamello-Brenta Nature Park Hut-to-Hut Hiking Tour

Your journey begins in the hidden gem of Val di Sole. You’ll hitch a gondola ride from the valley into the Presanella mountain group, where your hiking adventure truly kicks off. The path weaves through and out of a pleasant pine forest, passing picturesque mountain lakes and offering stunning views of the valley below and the Brenta group across. After passing Lago delle Malghette and Lago Scuro, you’ll have the option to ascend to Tre Laghi or continue your way past Rifugio Viviani toward Rifugio Lago Nambino, where you’ll spend the night on the shores of this turquoise lake.

Today brings about even more lakes. There’s nothing strange about that, as you’ll be hiking along the Five Lakes hiking route. If you’re early enough, you might avoid the busiest hours as the route is quite popular. First, you’ll ascend past Lago Nero to Lago Serodoli and Lago Gelato before finally starting your descent past Lago Lambi to Madonna di Campiglio. If lucky, you might run into some chamois hopping above through the rhododendrons and gentians surrounding the lakes in the early morning hours.

After a night in Madonna di Campiglio, it’s time to get back into the higher mountains. The first part of today’s path, though, takes you along the valley floor to the stunning Vallesinella Waterfalls. Following a series of wooden bridges, you’ll cross the stream multiple times before finally laying your eyes on the magical water’s play. Beyond the waterfalls, you’ll start climbing again, emerging from the forest and entering the central Brenta. You’ll spend the night at Rifugio Graffer below Mt. Pietra Grande.

The 4th day begins with an ascent of 200 vertical meters towards Passo Grostè. Here, you’ll start descending to Lake Tovel through the meadows of Val Flavona. The path is pleasant and not too steep while offering some incredibly picture-worthy views. You’ll find your hotel for the night on the shores of Lake Tovel, surrounded by dense pine forests and the towering peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. Here, you can relax and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and admire its red color.

You’ll venture into a less visited part of the Brenta Dolomites today. The path steeply ascends from Lake Tovel, climbing through a pine forest to the red rock mountains of the Northern Brenta. The second half of this journey is less strenuous as it crosses a plateau with green meadows, even passing a traditional dairy farm. You’re welcome to stop and try their tasty homemade cheese before undertaking the last mile to the rifugio, where there’s a good chance of spotting some marmots if you keep your eyes poised.

For your last day, there’s nothing left to do but come back down to the valley. You’re in no rush as the hike is not particularly long, and the path only runs downwards. You’ll descend to the other side of the Brenta massif, to the valley of Cles, where you’ll catch a train to Trento, from where you can travel to the airport.
