Looking for a short but unforgettable adventure in Norway’s wildest landscapes?
This 4-day self-guided trek is made for hikers who want to experience the essence of Jotunheimen National Park—without committing to a full expedition. Perfect for those with limited time or as a first introduction to hut-to-hut hiking in Norway, this route covers the most iconic section of the park, from dramatic ridgelines to remote alpine valleys, staying in authentic DNT-operated mountain huts along the way.
You’ll hike Norway’s most famous trail, the legendary Besseggen Ridge, known for its jaw-dropping views between the turquoise waters of Lake Gjende and deep blue Lake Bessvatnet. From there, you’ll continue across the steep and wild Bukkelægret plateau, where sweeping vistas of glaciated peaks open up around you. The route ends in the historic Gjendebu hut, the oldest staffed lodge in the Norwegian trekking network, nestled at the far end of the lake and only accessible on foot or by boat.
This is a tour built around Norway’s greatest hits, making it ideal for those who want maximum reward in minimal time.
We take care of all the planning: hut reservations, detailed trail descriptions, logistics guidance, and our trusted remote support. All you have to do is arrive ready to hike. So if you're dreaming of Norway’s wild beauty but want a route that delivers the best in just a few days—this is it.
