Hiking: 17.5 km and 870 m of elevation gain/loss
Experience the untouched beauty of Slovenia’s largest national park with one of the most popular hikes in the Julian Alps. This protected area offers an unspoiled natural environment, providing a refreshing contrast to the hustle of urban life.
The fresh mountain air is a refreshing contrast to city life. This moderately challenging hike requires a good fitness level and is suitable for anyone comfortable with several hours of physical activity. The trail is not overly steep or technically demanding, but it does involve about 8 hours of hiking, so stamina is important.
The hike begins at a high-altitude point, leading through scenic forests and eventually reaching high alpine pastures. Here, traditional shepherd communities still produce fresh dairy products, giving you a glimpse of local alpine culture.
Along the route, you can rest and enjoy refreshments at two mountain huts. The second hut, located by the picturesque Double Lake, serves as our main destination for the day.
While additional lakes are accessible further up the valley, exploring the upper part of the Seven Lakes Valley is best enjoyed as part of a three-day hike. We are happy to customize the tour to suit your preferences for the best possible experience.
