Can’t decide between the beauty of hut-to-hut hiking and the thrill of climbing Triglav? The good news is – you don’t have to!
You can discover the wild heart of Slovenia on a high-alpine journey that blends the country’s most iconic long-distance trail with the unforgettable ascent of its highest peak, Mount Triglav.
This tour is designed for experienced hikers who want to discover the diversity of Slovenia’s alpine landscape on foot, with a mix of self-guided exploration and a professionally guided ascent to the top of Triglav.
The Slovenian Mountain Trail takes you through some of the most impressive and varied terrain in the Julian Alps and Karawanks – two distinct mountain ranges, each with their own character.
From the Karawank’s open ridgelines and soft alpine pastures, you’ll transition deeper into the Julian Alps, where trails weave through limestone peaks and high-mountain valleys, following glacier-fed streams into the heart of Triglav National Park.
The true highlight of the tour is the ascent of Mount Triglav (2,864 m), a national symbol and rite of passage for Slovenians.
Unlike the rest of the route, which is fully self-guided, the climb to the summit is done with a certified mountain guide. This ensures safety and confidence on the upper sections of the mountain, which include exposed ridge walking and via ferrata-style climbing secured with fixed cables.
We handle the logistics so you can focus on the trail. Accommodations are pre-booked, and you’ll receive a digital guidebook with detailed trail notes, GPS tracks, and practical tips to keep you on course.
With our support in the background, you’ll have the freedom of a self-guided hike with the added assurance of professional guidance on the summit day.
So lace up your hiking boots and get ready to experience the best of both worlds!

We had great experience with the Triglav Tours team. They were always available, responsive and helpful. They arranged our trip during high season and managed to find solutions were other agencies did not. Thank you Eva and the entire Triglav Tours team!

I have a lot of experience hiking in the mountains but still chose to book a guide, as I have neither the gear nor experience in via ferrata climbing. It turned out to be a really good idea! Prior to the trip, I had contact with the organizer and a video call where I could ask questions, which provided a good basis for deciding which trip was right for me. We were three women + our guide Jakob. On day 2, we started very early before sunrise, which gave us a bit more space on the trail and the pleasure of watching the sun rise over the mountain. Jakob was incredibly good at making our small group function, even though our levels were quite varied. I have a fear of heights, but I didn't feel unsafe at all. It was really nice that there was time to clip us into the wire. Back at the cabin, we had breakfast before heading back down towards the car. An absolutely fantastic trip that requires good physical fitness.

The Tour du Mont Blanc was easily one of the most memorable trips I’ve taken in years. From breathtaking views and warm, welcoming people to delicious food and charming mountain huts, every aspect of the journey was unforgettable. The hikes were significantly more challenging than I had anticipated, but the reward was well worth the effort. I can’t overstate how much smoother and more stress-free the experience was thanks to Hut to Hut’s incredibly detailed guides. Having accommodations pre-booked, access to a well-designed GPS trail map, and a comprehensive guide outlining what to expect, what to pack, and what to watch out for made all the difference. If you’re considering hiking the TMB, I wholeheartedly recommend booking with Hut to Hut. Their support turned a great adventure into an exceptional one.
